Belgian and French Citizens Get New Zealand Visa on Easier Terms

A valid visa is required for Belgian visitors visiting New Zealand for stays of up to ninety days. The 2009 visa waiver programme allows Belgian passport holders to visit New Zealand on a NZeTA for durations of up to 90 days without previously acquiring a New Zealand visa. Those travelling from Belgium to New Zealand qualify for this privilege. As of July 2019, Belgian citizens will need an NEW ZEALAND VISA FOR BELGIAN CITIZENS.

A visa is necessary for any citizens of Belgium who want to stay in New Zealand for less than three months. This is a mandatory rule, not a suggestion. It is the responsibility of the traveller to ensure that their passport will be valid for at least three months beyond the date they want to depart New Zealand. Only Australian nationals are exempt; even Australian permanent residents need an Electronic Travel Authorization to enter New Zealand.

Payment of the New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority’s fees is necessary before the New Zealand government will begin processing an eTA application from a resident of Belgium (NZeTA). People in Belgium can have their NZ eTAs sent to them. New Zealand may request further documentation from applicants from some countries, including Belgium, before accepting their New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority.

French citizens may now visit New Zealand on a NEW ZEALAND VISA FOR FRENCH CITIZENS. Thanks to the visa waiver programme implemented in 2009, French citizens may remain in New Zealand for up to ninety days without applying for a visa. Beginning in July 2019, French citizens will need an electronic travel authorization to visit New Zealand.

All French nationals who want to visit New Zealand for less than three months are required to have a valid visa, which cannot be extended and must be obtained before departure. If you plan on leaving New Zealand within three months of your arrival, your passport must still be valid for at least another month. French citizens may expect their eTA application to be processed after they have paid the NZeTA costs. New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) is issued to citizens of France through email; however, the applicant may be called for further documentation before the NZeTA is accepted.
