WMAR 11 PM News clip & commercials (March 26, 1980)

Here is a classic clip taken from Baltimore’s then-CBS affiliate, Channel 2’s WMAR. After Tom Sweeney gives a brief preview of what’s coming up in the next segment, a commercial break features ads for Bill Schaefer’s Toyota City in Glen Burnie (today the site of Glen Burnie High School’s softball field), Mean Joe Greene and Terry Bradshaw for Uniroyal’s Steeler Tire (boo!), Mushrooms Sandals shoes from the R.G. Barry Corporation, which were available at the now long defunct department store chain Hochschild’s, and in the spirit of spring, Scott’s Family Seed. As return to the air, Newscene talks about a new plan to keep Saturday Delivery by increasing first class postage by a cent. Also, President Carter proposing budget cuts as a means to curb inflation, a mid-month auto sales update, the federal government providing aid to Baltimore area auto workers recently laid off, and tax increases for Baltimore City’s budget. Finally, most of a commercial for South Carolina Tourism, back when it still had real Southern hospitality!
