While many new start-ups have social media accounts and try to get the word out by building a strong online audience, finding a larger audience through traditional press coverage is usually reserved for those with deep pockets or venture capital backing. Now, a new media company, MidasIndex, is looking to even the playing field so that independent creators and bootstrappers have the same kind of access to press coverage.<\/p>\n<p>MidasIndex is an online newsroom in which small-scale entrepreneurs can share their press releases, media statements, articles, and opinion pieces with a wider audience. MidasIndex currently specializes in news coverage for the indie-hacker community. Plans are underway to expand the service to provide coverage for independent musicians, artists, game developers, and other creatives. The site also plans to expand into long-form interviews with brand founders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile attempting to launch a few startups, I found it extremely difficult to get press coverage,\u201d explains Jamie Mitchell, founder of MidasIndex. \u201cThere are so many phenomenal indie-creators who have incredible products and services but they just aren\u2019t getting the coverage that will take them from small-scale and independent to getting the notice of clients and investors.
